Sit Spot and Nature Connection Practice

There is a Norwegian saying ‘Ut på tur, aldri sur’ that literally means
‘Out on tour, never sour’ but the usual meaning is seen as
‘On an outdoor trip in nature you’re never in a bad mood’.

Suggested Invitation for Day 22

Feeling Without Touching

Today, once you have made yourself comfortable in your Sit Spot, start by just sitting and tuning into your breathing for a few minutes. Then, notice the physical sensations that you are experiencing. Do you feel hot or cold? What do you notice about what you are sitting on?  Do you feel the wind on your face? Can you feel your clothing? If you want to, you can try a ‘body radar’ and start at your head or your feet and slowly work your way up or down your body, noticing how different parts of your body feel.

Next, just sit for a little while, observing what is around you. What are your other senses telling you? What can you see, what can you hear, and what can you smell? Now notice what feelings and emotions these experiences create in you.

Continue this for as long as you wish and then just sit and ‘be’. Give yourself the gift of time and allow yourself permission to be fully present, in your Sit Spot.

As usual, you can do either part of this invitation, both parts or neither of them if they do not resonate with you.
