Sit Spot and Nature Connection Practice

I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles

Suggested Invitation for Day 23

Sound Map

Today, you will need to take a piece of paper with you (or the map that you can download below), a pen or pencil and something to lean on. You might find it best to substitute this invitation for another one if it’s raining!

Once you have made yourself comfortable in your Sit Spot and sat for a few minutes, make a sound map of your environment by recording each sound you hear on your sheet of paper. You can use whatever shapes or words you choose to stand in for the sounds. Your Sit Spot is represented by the ‘X’ at the centre of the dowloaded map, or draw an X in the middle of your sheet of paper. Listen to the noises around you and note these sounds on the page in relation to where you are sitting. Mark distant sounds near the edge of your map.

(There is also a Sound Map page in the downloadable PDF Invitations and Reflective Log Booklet).
