Smell the Rain 

One day if or when it is raining, rather than decide not to go to your Sit Spot, consider putting on some suitable clothing and just going out and sitting or walking in the rain for a little while.

Notice the rain falling …. the sounds of drops falling .... the silence between drops .… the feel of the rain on your skin .… notice the smells that often follow rain or storms. See if you can stick out your tongue and taste the rain. Have fun with the rain, but remember to go back inside and get dry before you get fed up!

The distinctive, earthy, usually pleasant odour that is associated with rainfall, especially following a warm, dry period is called ‘Petrichor’. It is caused by a combination of volatile plant oils and geosmin released into the air from the soil by the rainfall.
